Anytime I train new artists I always make these recommendations. I truly think they will level up any glam game and add a little sparkle to your final look ✨🤍

1. Use multiple lip products: I typically like to create a 3D lip look by using 2 shades of lip liner and blending them out. Then topping the lip with a darker toned lipstick with a lighter toned gloss in the middle to make them pop!

2. Adding shine: I love to finish a look with a shine spray in the hair and sometimes on the body! I’ll typically also add a body glow as needed on the skin like the @soldejaneiro bodyboil. I’ll also use an edging product on the hair to shape the pieces around the perimeter of the face without disturbing the rest of the hair. I love the @got2busa edging/brow gel for this!

3. Finishing pressed powder vs loose powder: I always finish my application with a layer of pressed powder all over the face…sometimes I’ll use the pressed powder to wipe away the loose powder as well if I was baking! It really helps to melt everything together and give a soft, skin like, airbrush finish. I love the @maybelline fit me pressed powders or @charlottetilbury pressed powders for this!

Looking polished is key 🔑 to standing out at your next competition! Here are my top 5 tips to look your best!

1. Meet with a licensed professional to discuss your skincare goals and needs! I typically recommend that my clients also use the @dermalogica daily microfoliant leading up to the comp to ensure the skin is smooth and radiant!

2. Hair prep and care is imperative! I always recommend that you purchase hair extensions in advance to ensure the length, quality and color are a good match! I always tell my clients to arrive with clean, smooth dry hair. Shampoo twice and only condition your ends the night before competition. Be sure to have clean dry extensions prepped, organized and ready to clip in! @bellamihairpro is a great option.

3. Brow and a lip wax is super important and should be done in advance, especially if you are getting a spray tan! Getting your brows sculpted and cleaned up helps with the makeup application!

4. Choose a light/neutral nail color and a shorter length! I typically recommend the @opi colors in bubble bath and funny bunny! Pro Tip: layer them both for the perfect pageant color!

5. Lastly, but most importantly I highly encourage working with pros that specialize in pageantry! Work with a specialist such as @kp.consulting or @allissalathamconsulting to perfect your stage performance and interview skills! Connect with an etiquette coach such as @equipageetiquette to gain insight on how to carry yourself throughout pageant week in an elegant/elevated manner! Hire hair and makeup if it’s available at your competition! Pageant hair and makeup is an important piece to looking polished! The lights on a stage can alter the way that your makeup and features look to the judges. SPF can cause a cast or non waterproof mascara can run very easily when mixing with your natural oils. Pageant pros can identify the best look for you to emphasize your features for stage as well as ensure the makeup lasts for 16+ hours! ✅

Miss NH Prep is in full swing over here at LAVO! Our stunning client requested a brow lamination, brow dye and brow sculpt. She specifically wanted to ensure that her brows which are typically very light really stood out and still maintained that auburn color.
